Mark Savill is Managing Director of Lyons Davidson Ltd, heading its national legal services and eight regional offices, including London, Bristol, Cardiff and Edinburgh. The company was one of the first legal disciplinary practices to be approved by the SRA in 2011 and became an ABS under the passport procedure in October 2012.
Mark graduated in law from Trinity College, Cambridge and joined the company in 1988, as one of its first paralegals. He qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and became a litigation Partner in 1997. He went on to become business innovation Partner and was responsible for developing new services, and improving processes and communication methods.
Lyons Davidson has one of the largest claimant personal injury practices in the country but is relatively rare in also providing a well-established defendant insurer practice, with a full consumer legal services division.
Mark has regularly spoken and advised on the implications of LASPO, ABS structures, Portal reform and other changes being introduced to the claims process. He is a member of the RTA Portal Change Control Committee.
Alex graduated from Bristol Polytechnic (now the University of the West of England) in law in 1987 and joined Lyons Davidson as a trainee solicitor in 1989, qualifying in 1991.
For the first ten years, Alex specialised in personal injury litigation, mainly involving road traffic accidents, on behalf of claimants. She became a partner in 1999 while still in the personal injury department and gradually became involved in handling complaints before becoming Compliance Partner.
Now she is responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory matters, primarily the Code of Conduct, as well as having overall responsibility for dealing with complaints throughout the whole company. Alex takes a keen interest in the changing face of regulation of solicitors. She became Compliance Director in 2012 and is the COLP for Lyons Davidson Ltd.
After graduating with a law degree and Legal Practice Course at the University West of England, Michelle joined Lyons Davidson in 1996 as a trainee solicitor, qualifying in 1998.
Michelle specialised in employment law, advising predominantly on commercial employment issues for a wide range of employer clients, as well as delivering training on current issues in employment law. She was made Head of the Employment Department and became a Partner in 2000. On incorporation of Lyons Davidson in 2011, Michelle was appointed to the Board and is now the Commercial Director, with a wide range of operational and HR responsibilities.
Richard trained and worked in the City of London prior to joining Lyons Davidson. He has over 30 years’ experience of corporate work and has led major transactions at value levels of up to £200 million.
After qualifying as a Certified Accountant in 2001, having worked in a variety of finance roles in both business and practice, Gill joined Lyons Davidson in 2002 as the Accounts Manager looking after and growing a team to meet the demands of a successful and expanding business. She was made Financial Controller and was promoted to Senior Manager in 2011.
During this time, she was a committee member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales Solicitors Special Interest Group, which gave her knowledge and insight into the regulatory environment and the role of the Reporting Accountant.
Gill is COFA (Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration) for a number of entities within the group and associated companies, and was appointed Finance Director in February 2018.
