A company called Aston Midshires Insurance is being investigated for fraud, following concerns raised by the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) that drivers are using vehicles without valid insurance.

For a motor insurance policy to be valid it has to be underwritten by a company that is a member of the MIB. They must contribute a levy to the MIB and supply relevant data to the Motor Insurance Database (MID). The MID is a record of insured vehicles in the UK. You can check your vehicle is on the MID here.

Aston Midshires Insurance has left a number of motorists without valid insurance cover and out of pocket. If you believe you have been affected or purchased insurance through Aston Midshires Insurance, contact Consumer Direct on 0845 040506.

And remember: if a deal seems too good to be true it probably is!
