Fairtrade Fortnight is an initiative led by the Fairtrade Foundation and is designed to bring awareness to customers about where the products they buy come from.

This year is the 24th Fairtrade Fortnight in the UK and it runs from 26 February to 11 March.

Why buy fair trade?

Fair trade supports better prices, fair terms and better working conditions for farmers across the globe. When you choose to buy Fairtrade produce, over and above the Fairtrade price, the Fairtrade premium is an additional amount that goes towards a fund specifically set up to improve social, economic and environmental conditions for workers and farmers in the developing world. With a stable income, farmers have the chance to educate their children, improve their housing and invest in clean water to keep their community and environment healthy.

How Lyons Davidson is encouraging staff to get involved in Fairtrade Fortnight

Monday 12 March: Leeds

Fairtrade Leeds has a stall in St Martin’s House and will be handing out tasting samples of Divine Chocolate and providing information on fair trade matters. There will also be a selection of Divine chocolates on sale.

Wednesday 7 March: Bristol

There will be a Fairtrade stand at Queen Square. Volunteers from Bristol Fairtrade Network alongside our own Green Leaders will be raising awareness with staff and members of the public, and advertising our business commitment to fair trade. There will be a wealth of information available, goodies to sample and the chance to win a prize in our Fairtrade Coffee Challenge.

Thursday 8 March: all offices

There will be a Fairtrade bake sale in each of our offices selling cakes, biscuits and other treats with the proceeds going to the Fairtrade Foundation. We will be asking as many members of staff as possible to make the Fairtrade treats for this worthy cause and challenge you to include a Fairtrade ingredient.
