Principal Associate Laura Merry and Senior Solicitor Katie Charlesworth from the Head Injury team attended the Headway Devon Conference on 21 March 2017.

The theme of this year’s conference was ‘A new me – a holistic approach’ and there were a range of speakers there to inform delegates on a range of therapeutic approaches.

Virtual reality rehabilitation

Clinical Neuropsychologist  James Tonks discussed the potential for contactless technology and virtual reality in assisting in rehabilitation.  Other approaches were also explored by speakers, including mindfulness, discussed by practitioner Carol Rice-Varian, art therapy by Kym Anderton, drama therapy by Deborah Shine and the power of music was the subject of Hilary Storer of Attune Music Therapy’s session.

Funding therapeutic treatment

Sheryl Edwards from Headway Swindon described the tailored support that Headway is able to provide their clients. There was also a practical discussion about the best way of accessing funds for therapeutic treatment by Martin Pettingell.
