LD’s Advoca group gives forced marriage training
Iona Phillips, Group Leader of Advoca, the specialist child and domestic abuse law division of Lyons Davidson, provided training on the Bristol Safeguarding Board’s guidelines for Forced Marriage and Honour-Based Violence with co-trainer Pommy Harmar of Nextlink Domestic Abuse Support Services on 22 May.
This half-day course took place at the Portway Development Centre and was attended by 30 delegates from various organisations including the police, health, education and CYPS.
‘I am being forced to marry someone against my will.’ What would you do? There may only be one chance for someone to disclose this information and therefore potentially one chance to save a life. The next half-day training course is at the Kingswood Civic Centre on 18 September 2012.
If you would like further information then please contact Iona Phillips at email@example.com.
