In Southern Rock Insurance Company Limited v (1) Brightside Group Limited (2) Brightside Insurance Services Limited QBD (Comm) (Leggatt J) [2015], Lyons Davidson’s Commercial Litigation team successfully opposed applications to transfer three related sets of proceedings from the Chancery Division of the High Court in the Bristol District Registry to the specialist Commercial Court in the Queen’s Bench Division in the Royal Courts of Justice, London.

As the National Health Service comes under the spotlight in another general election campaign, ministers have redoubled their efforts to tackle the NHS’s cover-up culture. Under new measures recommended by Sir Robert Francis, NHS senior management staff who have “consented or connived” in covering up poor standards of care could face fines or up to two years’ imprisonment.

Since 6 April 2007, landlords of assured shorthold tenancies have been required to protect their tenants’ deposits with a tenancy deposit scheme (TDS) and give prescribed information to the tenant and any other relevant people. A relevant person is someone who paid the deposit to the landlord on behalf of a tenant.
