If you were exposed to asbestos at work then your employer owed you a duty to protect you from known dangers. Many people think that no-one knew that asbestos was dangerous until quite recently. That is not true. From 1965 onward, the law says that employers knew or ought to have known about the dangers of asbestos. Even before 1965 larger employers were aware of the risks and the courts will hold them responsible for negligent exposure.
Often, people are not sure how or where they were exposed to asbestos. If you have been diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease then a conversation with a specialist solicitor may help you to identify when and how you inhaled asbestos. We know about lots of products that contain asbestos – things you may not realise, like linoleum.
Even if the place you worked, with or around asbestos, is long since closed, you could still make a successful claim.
Any compensation will be yours to keep. Legal fees will not be deducted.
