The Judicial Studies Board advises judges that the appropriate level of compensation for the pain and suffering associated with an asbestos-related diseases should be within the following guidelines (2010):

Mesothelioma

£52,500 to £81,500

Asbestos-related lung cancer

£50,000 to £64,250

Asbestosis

£30,750 to £67,500

Pleural thickening

£24,500 to £50,000

Compensation is payable for many other losses including lost pension, care costs, travel expenses etc to help your spouse/partner in the years ahead.  Awards can often exceed £100,000.

The amount of compensation varies in every case.
